Casoncelli vs. Scarpinòcc
Updated: Sep 24
Two Pasta Stories from Bergamo

If you ask a Bergamasco about casoncelli and scarpinòcc, you might discover that stuffed pasta can inspire some very serious opinions! 😄
They may look like close cousins, but these two local specialties tell two quite different stories.
Casoncelli are the iconic pasta of Bergamo, traditionally made with a rich, savoury filling that combines meat, cheese and bread, sometimes with a subtle sweet touch.
Scarpinòcc di Parre, on the other hand, come from Val Seriana and are traditionally meat-free, with a delicious filling based on cheese, breadcrumbs, egg, butter and aromatic ingredients.
Different fillings, different traditions, different personalities — but the same love for homemade pasta and Bergamo’s culinary heritage.
So, casoncelli or scarpinòcc?
There’s only one way to find out: taste them both! 🥟❤️
